Today, on Remembrance Day, I’m placing a red poppy at our local war memorial.
This day marks the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, when World War One ended.
At 11 o'clock, we all observe a minute of silence to honour those who served and sacrificed their lives.
The red poppy is a symbol from the famous poem about Flanders Fields, reminding us of the courage shown.
Schools hold ceremonies to teach younger generations about the importance of this day, helping them appreciate the sacrifices that have shaped our nation.
